Car Rental Sydney Airport

The thrill of landing after a long-haul plane ride into Sydney Airport is quite unlike any other. Famed for its pristine blue ocean, iconic coastline, and historic landmarks, Sydney is a favoured destination for many visitors all over the world. Imagine the ease of exploring all that this harbour city has to offer with a rental car from Dollar.

Sydney is, for many, a once in a lifetime destination. Many try to steal a glimpse of what awaits them as they land - depending on your seat, the coastline, Harbour Bridge, and Opera House are all visible from the plane window. Thanks to its mild and temperate climate, Sydney boasts plenty of warm and sunny days every year, which makes for a great excuse to head to the beach as soon as you land at Sydney Airport.

Of course, for those wishing to venture out of the main city, at least for a day or two, you can do it easily with your Dollar rental car. There is Katoomba and the Blue Mountains to the west of Sydney, the Royal National Park to the south, and Palm Beach and the Hunter Valley and Newcastle to the North, to just name a few.

Anything is possible, especially when you have the ease of a rental car, like Dollar.

Drive to Bondi Beach, with Dollar

One of the main reasons tourists head to Sydney is for the beaches. In particular, Bondi Beach.

Bondi Beach gained notoriety worldwide thanks to its 1-kilometre stretch of white sand, pristine blue ocean, and great surf conditions. Plus, its proximity to fantastic eateries, like celeb-haunts Bondi Icebergs and Totti’s, and cafes, like The Depot. You could easily spend your whole vacation at Bondi Beach, exploring the local suburbs, like Bondi, Bronte, and Tamarama!

Another favourite amongst locals and tourists alike is the coastal walk. The Bondi to Coogee coastal walk is 7 kilometres in length and takes you along the breathtaking Sydney coastline. You’ll see the beaches of Bronte, Tamarama, Clovelly, and Coogee, as well as Gordon’s Bay and the Waverley Cemetery. It is truly beautiful - many locals take this walk every single day, and it’s clear to see why. You can even dedicate an entire day to walking the coast and stop off at each beach you pass through - it’s a great way to spend the day.

While in Sydney, you’ll likely want to explore the CBD and surrounding area too. Walk underneath the Harbour Bridge and explore the Sydney Botanic Garden . Maybe take the 30-minute ferry ride from Circular Quay through to Manly, which is the gateway suburb to the Northern Beaches. Since its inception in 1855, the Manly Ferry has been somewhat of a Sydney institution - it’s much loved by generations of locals.

Make sure to stop for a bite to eat at one of the harbourside restaurants to end the day. We recommend the Opera Bar, as it is both delicious, well-priced, and has views of the harbour, the Harbour Bridge, and the Opera House.

Take a road trip with Dollar

If you’re planning a road trip or two during your vacation, Sydney is a great starting point.

Venture down south via the Grand Pacific Highway and head to the Royal National Park. This is the oldest national park in Australia and is filled with endless hikes, rugged coasts, and exciting views. Drive further south and drive along the Sea Cliff Bridge and into Wollongong, a beautiful coastal town. You can even head to Kiama and witness the blowholes while you’re here. Keep an eye out while at these southern beaches, particularly if visiting during the winter months, as there are plenty of humpbacks whales to spot during their annual migration.

To the west of Sydney is the Blue Mountains. It’s just a 90-minute drive from Sydney Airport, along the M4 and Great Western Highway. Famed for its blue hue, the Blue Mountains is home to the Three Sisters, a culturally and historically significant rock formation that you can spot from Echo Point. There are several hikes to take here too, like the Grand Canyon hike and Wentworth Falls. For those wanting an easier walk, simply take the Three Sisters Walk or the Katoomba Falls Walk.

Sydney Airport is a great place to start your vacation. Sydney and its surrounding areas offer a plethora of activities and destinations to cater all to types of vacation. You can access endless destinations with your rental car from Dollar.
